Ep. 102 Josie and the Pussycats: Golden Era of the Mall

Won't you Pretend to be Nice and join Shade and Chelsey for this week's journey back to the aughts when Mr. Moviefone and TRL dominated pop culture? That's right, this week on Popcorn Therapy we were blasting Josie and the Pussycats (2001). Listen in as we discuss pop stars who were almost in this movie, imposter syndrome, parasocial relationships, rampant consumerism, and Pedro Pascal. With a special bonus of Shade and Chelsey watching a movie about brainwashing produced by MTV while being further and further brainwashed into being nostalgic for MTV.

Josie and the Pussycats was written and directed by Harry Elfont and Deborah Kaplan, with a special credit to Richard Goldwater of Archie Comics.

The movie starred Rachael Leigh Cook, Rosario Dawson, Tara Reid, Alan Cumming, Parker Posey, Gabriel Mann, Paulo Costanzo, and Missi Pyle.

Be sure to return next week for our cow-flying episode on Twister!
