Ep.98 Rafiki: Get Sensual

Happy Pride! For this year's final week of Pride month Popcorn Therapy is going to Kenya to watch the sugar and stark lesbian romance Rafiki (2018). Join us as we go through the budding romance of Kena and Ziki as they navigate cultural norms and young love. We've got it all this week from talking about relationships, minority stress, and dating the daughter of your father's political opponents.

Rafiki was directed by Wanuri Kahiu. She is also a co-writer along with Jenna Cato Bass. Rafiki was based on the short story Jambula Tree by Monica Arac de Nyeko.

The cast includes Samantha Mugatsia, Sheila Munyiva, Neville Misati, Jimmy Gathu, Nini Wacera, Dennis Musyoka, Nice Githinji, Charlie Karumi, and Muthoni Gathecha.
